Finnerty Law Office is a highly regarded personal injury firm serving clients throughout Massachusetts and beyond. Founded by prominent trial lawyer John F. Finnerty in the 1950’s, the firm has earned a reputation for diligent advocacy on behalf of injured people and other clients.*
For decades, we have consistently achieved superior results for our clients. We handle a wide range of injury claims including automobile accidents, bicycle, motorcycle, truck, train, plane, bus, and boat accidents, pedestrian injuries, slip and fall accidents, dog bites, amusement park injuries, pool injuries, dangerous/defective premises, hotel liability, sports injuries, construction accidents, work injuries, wrongful death, birth injuries, medical malpractice, nursing home negligence, institutional child abuse, traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, burn injuries, dangerous and defective products, drug liability, and others.
We handle employment matters including wrongful termination, sexual harassment, and various forms of discrimination, as well as insurance coverage disputes, critical business documents, and contract law.
We offer all clients the personal attention they deserve and require. We listen to each client’s story, ask all the right questions, explain the claims and litigation process, gather all needed evidence including medical records and bills, witness statements, police and ambulance reports, photos/videos, and other documents, research all relevant law, make a detailed, written settlement demand, and work tirelessly to effect a fair resolution.
While most injury claims are resolved by agreement, others end up in court. While some lawsuits settle before reaching trial, others go the distance. When litigation is commenced, we conduct whatever discovery is necessary to prepare the case for trial, while continuing efforts to resolve the case.
Mediation is a popular and effective way to bring the parties together in an attempt to settle a lawsuit or claim dispute. A mediator is chosen by agreement to hear each side present its case at a non-binding, informal hearing. After considering the evidence, the mediator usually suggests a settlement figure or a range of figures, separates the parties, and works with each side to resolve the case. In the vast majority of cases, mediation is successful.
We welcome clients with pre-existing physical challenges who have been injured by someone else’s negligence. A pre-existing condition should not affect a new injury claim provided the old condition is unrelated to the new injury. We have successfully resolved cases on behalf of clients living with quadraplegia and cerebral palsy.
Whether by way of settlement or litigation, we do whatever it takes to maximize each client’s recoverable damages and obtain the highest compensation possible for the injuries sustained, the related pain and suffering, and any other consequential or economic loss.
* In 1982, one of Attorney John Finnerty’s cases became the subject of the hit movie, “The Verdict”. The film starred Paul Newman and James Mason, the latter taking on Mr. Finnerty’s role as counsel for the Archdiocese of Boston.
